**Nationwide Road-Weather Update**

**New Mexico:** A fast-moving dust wall is creating near-zero visibility and winds over 40 mph along **I-10 from mile markers 56–109 near Deming and Akela** through 7 PM MDT. Avoid travel if possible; if caught in dust, pull completely off the road, turn off lights, and keep your foot off the brake.

**Southwest:** Flash flooding is ongoing or expected from thunderstorms in southern California and Arizona.
• **AZ:** Near Carrizo, flooding threatens **US 60 (MM 313–322)** and **SR-73 (MM 311–315)** through 7:30 PM MST after 0.75–1.75 inches of rain; washes, dirt roads, paved roads, and underpasses may be impassable.
• **CA:** Flash flooding is possible near Mountain Pass, Kingston Road, Excelsior Mine Road, Butte Valley, and southwest Death Valley through about 7:30–7:45 PM PDT. Do not drive through flooded washes or low-water crossings.
• Near Morenci, AZ, Routes **78 and 191** face a severe storm with 60 mph winds and quarter-size hail through 5:30 PM MST.

**Kentucky & Southern Indiana:** Severe thunderstorms are producing 60 mph wind gusts, quarter-size hail in some areas, torrential rain, and flash flooding. Storms are moving southeast at 25–55 mph. Use extra caution around Louisville, Corydon, Tell City, Independence, Williamstown, Somerset, London, Monticello, and Harlan through roughly 8:15–8:45 PM EDT. Flash flood warnings are in effect in parts of Harlan, Pulaski, Casey, and Lincoln counties, where 1.5–2.5 inches of rain has fallen in spots. Avoid flooded streets, underpasses, and low-lying roads. A broader severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect across much of Kentucky and southern Indiana until 9–10 PM EDT.

**Indiana:** Heavy rain is causing ponding and minor flooding around Indianapolis, Shelbyville, Greenfield, New Castle, Linton, Bloomfield, Shoals, Loogootee, and Odon. Some areas have received up to 2 inches of rain. Slow down, avoid hydroplaning, and never drive around barricades or through standing water.

**Ohio:** River flooding is affecting **I-70 near Buckeye Lake**, where water is extending onto the eastbound Exit 129A ramp to Route 79. Minor flooding is also expected along **SR-93 south of Logan** near the Hocking River at Enterprise. Use alternate routes where necessary.

**Carolinas:** Severe storms with 60 mph winds and quarter-size hail are affecting eastern and central North Carolina and parts of South Carolina.
• **NC:** Use caution on **I-40 between mile markers 340–359** near Goldsboro and Mount Olive, and **I-95 between mile markers 41–46** near Fayetteville and Raeford. Additional severe storms affect Lumberton, Kinston, Warsaw, Southern Pines, Pinehurst, and Aberdeen. Flash flooding is possible where 1–3 inches of rain has fallen.
• **SC:** Damaging winds and hail threaten Spartanburg, Greenville, Laurens, Abbeville, Chester, and nearby areas through 8:45 PM EDT. Ponding and shallow roadway flooding are possible near Boiling Springs, Inman, Campobello, Greer, Taylors, Duncan, and Lyman.

**Tennessee, Virginia & West Virginia:** Severe thunderstorms are producing 60–70 mph wind gusts, hail, heavy rain, and reduced visibility. Travel conditions may deteriorate quickly along **I-26 in Tennessee (MM 1–19)** and **I-81 in Tennessee (MM 50–75) and Virginia (MM 1–34)** near Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol, Abingdon, Gate City, and Rogersville. Additional storms affect Bluefield, Wytheville, Tazewell, Lewisburg, Covington, and surrounding areas. Avoid flooded roads and watch for downed trees and power lines. Flooding is also expected near Nallen in Nicholas County, WV, where Chestnut Grove Road and the Lumber Yard may flood.

**Dakotas:** Destructive severe storms are affecting western South Dakota and southwestern North Dakota, with 60 mph winds and very large hail. Up to 4-inch hail has been reported near Pine Ridge, SD; baseball-size hail is possible near Amidon, ND, Redig, SD, and Crow Buttes, SD. Avoid travel through storm cores and seek covered parking if safely available. A severe thunderstorm watch covers much of North Dakota until 1 AM CDT/midnight MDT.

**Pennsylvania:** Heavy rain may cause minor flooding and poor visibility near Cambridge Springs, Conneautville, Canadohta Lake, and Riceville through 10:30 PM EDT.

If you encounter flooding, **turn around—don’t drown.** Slow down in heavy rain, dust, hail, and strong winds; allow extra stopping distance; and never drive through flooded roadways or around closures.
