**Nationwide Road-Weather Update**

⚠️ **Flash flooding is creating dangerous driving conditions across parts of the Southwest, Midwest and Appalachians.**

**California/Arizona:** Life-threatening flash flooding is affecting **I-40 near Needles, CA**, plus Highway 95. Heavy thunderstorms are also flooding areas near **Parker and Poston** along the CA-AZ border, with another 0.5 to 1 inch of rain possible through **10:30 PM PDT/MST**. In central Yavapai County, AZ, flash flooding threatens **Highway 93, SR-71 and SR-89**; 0.5 to 2.5 inches has fallen, with up to another inch possible through **10 PM MST**. Around **Mesa, Tempe, Chandler and Gilbert**, severe storms may produce **60 mph wind gusts, penny-size hail and heavy rain**; avoid **I-10, US 60 and AZ Route 87** where conditions deteriorate.

**Utah:** Flash flooding and debris flows are possible around the **Babylon Fire Scar, Stevens Canyon, North Cottonwood Canyon and Salt Creek Canyon** in central San Juan County through **9:45 PM MDT**. Roads and driveways may be washed out.

**Nebraska:** Severe thunderstorms are crossing the Sandhills with winds up to **70 mph** and large hail. Use caution on **Highway 2, Highway 250 and Highway 61**, especially near Ellsworth, Ashby, Bingham and the Snake River crossing. Storms are moving east to southeast at 25–30 mph.

**Indiana/Ohio:** Significant flooding is ongoing after **8 to 10 inches of rain** in parts of eastern Indiana and western Ohio. Numerous roads are closed around **Richmond, Hagerstown and Cambridge City**, including near **I-70 Exit 145**; the warning runs until **12:30 AM EDT**. In southeastern Ohio, several roads remain closed near **Athens, Nelsonville, Albany and Coolville** through **4 AM EDT**. River flooding also continues near Alpine, Indiana, with the West Fork Whitewater River forecast to crest near **23 feet** Thursday afternoon.

**Kentucky:** Flash flooding is occurring in southeastern Clay County near **Manchester, Ogle and Goose Rock**, where 1.5 to 2.25 inches of rain has already fallen and up to another inch is possible through **11:30 PM EDT**. Flooding also affects parts of Clay and Leslie counties through midnight.

**New York/Pennsylvania:** A severe thunderstorm moving southeast at 25 mph may produce **60 mph gusts, quarter-size hail and heavy rain** near **Conklin, Susquehanna, Montrose and Hallstead** through **10:15 PM EDT**. Expect sudden wind damage and possible flooded roads.

**Alaska:** Flooding from a glacier-dammed lake outburst is increasing along **Mendenhall Lake and River near Juneau**. Avoid flooded sections of **Skaters Cabin Road, View Drive, River Road and nearby roads**; major flooding is forecast Thursday, with the warning in effect until **4:30 AM AKDT Friday**.

Never drive through floodwater—turn around, don’t drown. Slow down for standing water, gusty winds and hail; avoid closed roads and do not attempt to drive around barricades.
