🚗 **Nationwide Road-Weather Update — Aug. 26**

⚠️ **Severe thunderstorms with 60 mph winds and damaging hail** are affecting parts of the South, Midwest and Rockies:

– **Arkansas:** Northern Franklin County, including **I-40 between mile markers 25 and 42**, faces 60 mph gusts and quarter-size hail through **4:30 PM CDT**. Slow down and be ready for sudden debris, downed limbs and poor visibility.
– **Mississippi:** Storms near **Amory, Aberdeen, Okolona, Smithville, Mantee and Pheba** are moving southeast around 20 mph, with 60 mph gusts and hail. Warnings expire between **4:15 and 4:45 PM CDT**.
– **Missouri:** Near **West Plains, Thayer and Koshkonong**, a south-moving storm may bring 60 mph winds, quarter-size hail and torrential rain through **4:15 PM CDT**. Flooding is possible in West Plains through **6:45 PM**, including at **Howell Creek at County Road 9790**; 1–2 more inches of rain are expected.
– **Alabama:** Northern Fayette County—including **Winfield, Fayette and Glen Allen**—has a severe storm with 60 mph gusts and quarter-size hail through **4:15 PM CDT**.
– **Illinois:** Vermilion County, including **Georgetown and Ridge Farm**, could see 60 mph gusts and hail through **4:30 PM CDT**.
– **Indiana:** Around **Syracuse, Milford and Dewart Lake**, a storm moving east at 15 mph may produce 60 mph winds and quarter-size hail through **5:15 PM EDT**.
– **Colorado:** Near **Cripple Creek and Victor**, 60 mph winds and half-dollar-size hail are possible through **3:15 PM MDT**.
– **New Mexico:** Southeastern Colfax and northwestern Harding counties, including **Mills**, face 60 mph winds and quarter-size hail through **3:30 PM MDT**. Southeastern Lincoln County also has arroyo and small-stream flooding near the **Kelly, Peachtree and Copeland Canyons/Seven Cabins burn area** through **4:45 PM MDT**.
– **Florida:** Southeastern Brevard County—including **Palm Bay, Melbourne, Satellite Beach, Malabar and Indialantic**—has minor flooding concerns through **6 PM EDT**. Another 1–2 inches of rain may fall after 1–2 inches already received.

Avoid flooded roads and low-water crossings—**turn around, don’t drown**. During severe storms, reduce speed, increase following distance and seek a safe place to stop if hail, damaging winds or visibility rapidly worsen.
