FedEx Freight Takes the Wheel as NASCAR Truck Series Title Sponsor

FedEx Freight Named Title Sponsor of NASCAR Truck Series
FedEx Freight will become the title sponsor of the NASCAR Truck Series beginning in 2027, under a long-term partnership announced Friday by NASCAR and the less-than-truckload carrier.
The agreement will rename the series the NASCAR FedEx Freight Truck Series. FedEx Freight also will become an official NASCAR partner and the organization’s exclusive freight shipping partner in the United States, Canada and Mexico beginning Jan. 1, 2027. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The sponsorship comes shortly after FedEx Freight became an independent, publicly traded company. FedEx Freight Holding Company completed its separation from FedEx Corp. on June 1, 2026, and began regular-way trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol FDXF.
For FedEx Freight, the NASCAR agreement represents its first sponsorship platform of this scale as an independent company. The carrier said the partnership is intended to strengthen its brand, support customer and employee engagement, and contribute to its long-term growth strategy.
“Some partnerships just make sense,” John Smith, FedEx Freight’s president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “As FedEx Freight moves forward in its next chapter as an independent company, we are focused on opportunities that strengthen our brand and support our long-term growth strategy and we are confident the NASCAR FedEx Freight Truck Series will deliver.”
The sponsorship will extend beyond race-day branding. FedEx Freight and NASCAR plan to develop activities aimed at customers, employees, fans and local communities. The agreement also includes targeted activations in markets surrounding FedEx Freight distribution locations.
For drivers and other transportation professionals, the partnership places a major freight carrier’s name directly on a racing series built around heavy-duty trucks and the commercial vehicle industry. The NASCAR Truck Series features purpose-built race trucks rather than production vehicles, but its identity has long been connected to trucking, equipment and logistics brands.
Craig Stimmel, NASCAR’s senior vice president and chief commercial officer, said FedEx Freight’s investment reflects the commercial value NASCAR can offer companies seeking national visibility as well as business-to-business and employee engagement.
“FedEx Freight choosing NASCAR for a brand investment of this magnitude says a lot about where our sport is today and the value our platform can deliver to businesses looking to grow,” Stimmel said. “And there may not be a more natural pairing than FedEx Freight and the NASCAR Truck Series.”
The agreement gives FedEx Freight a year-round presence through NASCAR’s national reach, fan base and business network. The companies said the partnership will be used to build brand awareness and customer engagement, rather than being limited to the series’ scheduled events.
The timing also connects the sponsorship to FedEx Freight’s broader transition. When the spin-off was completed, the company described itself as the largest pure-play less-than-truckload carrier in North America. It said it would move forward with a focused strategy built around its network, operating efficiency, technology and sales organization.
FedEx Freight operates approximately 365 locations and has nearly 30,000 vehicles and 40,000 team members, according to company information. Its network serves all 50 U.S. states, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The carrier has said its network includes more than 26,000 service center doors. That footprint is central to its effort to provide published transit times, reliable service and coverage for customers shipping freight that does not require a full truckload.
In announcing the separation from FedEx, Smith said the independent company would focus on its competitive advantages and pursue growth in selected industry sectors. Raj Subramaniam, FedEx’s president and chief executive officer, called the separation a milestone that positions both companies to pursue their respective strategies as independent businesses.
“The successful separation of FedEx Freight is a pivotal milestone, positioning two independent companies to lead their respective industries and create long-term value for their stockholders,” Subramaniam said.
The new NASCAR sponsorship is therefore both a sports partnership and an early public statement about FedEx Freight’s identity as a standalone carrier. The company will retain its existing transportation operations while using the NASCAR platform to reach shippers, employees and communities across its service network.
NASCAR and FedEx Freight said they expect to develop additional partnership opportunities over the coming years. The title sponsorship itself begins with the 2027 season.
