Driver Found Deceased in LaPlace Parking Lot After Reporting He Was “Not Feeling Well”

A 53-year-old truck driver was found deceased inside his tractor in a LaPlace, Louisiana, parking lot after telling his company that he was not feeling well, according to local authorities and media reports.

Police in St. John the Baptist Parish were contacted by the driver’s trucking company at approximately 8:40 a.m. on Thursday, September 17. The company requested a welfare check after employees became concerned about the driver’s condition.

According to information reported by 4WWL, the driver had notified the company the previous day that he was feeling ill. He had stopped to rest in a Home Depot parking lot in LaPlace, a community in St. John the Baptist Parish located along the Mississippi River between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Officers dispatched to the location found the driver unresponsive inside his semi-truck. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
