Bald Tires and No CDL Create a “Horrifically Unsafe” Situation
An Arizona Department of Public Safety inspection found an oversize-load truck being operated by a driver without a valid commercial driver’s license and equipped with severely damaged tires, according to an agency social media post.
Inspection Finds Severely Damaged Tires
AZDPS said several of the truck’s tires were in what it described as “horrifically unsafe” condition. The tires were reportedly either bald or worn down to exposed, shredded interior components.
The condition of the tires raised significant safety concerns, particularly because the vehicle was hauling an oversize load. The agency did not provide additional details about the truck’s location, carrier or the specific load involved.
Driver Lacked a Valid CDL
In addition to the tire violations, the truck driver did not have a valid commercial driver’s license, according to AZDPS.
The department did not state in the post what enforcement action was taken against the driver or whether the vehicle was placed out of service.

Severely worn or damaged tires can reduce traction and compromise a commercial vehicle’s ability to operate safely, especially when carrying heavy or oversized cargo. Federal commercial vehicle inspections include tire-condition requirements intended to identify unsafe equipment before it continues operating on public roads.
