Truckers Receive Nearly 2,000 Tickets During Operation Safe Driver Week
Speeding was the most common violation recorded among commercial truck drivers during the 2026 Operation Safe Driver Week campaign, according to results released by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance. Officers issued 3,968 warnings and 2,604 citations to commercial motor vehicle and passenger vehicle drivers across North America.
Enforcement Conducted Across North America
Law enforcement agencies from 36 U.S. states, seven Canadian provinces and Mexico participated in the annual campaign. Officers focused on unsafe driving behaviors that can contribute to crashes involving commercial trucks and passenger vehicles.
The enforcement effort produced nearly 4,000 warnings and more than 2,600 tickets or citations. The violations included unsafe actions by both commercial motor vehicle and passenger vehicle drivers.
Speeding Led Truck Driver Violations
Commercial truck drivers received 342 speeding citations during the campaign. Passenger vehicle drivers received 349 speeding citations, which represented nearly 54% of all citations issued to four-wheel vehicle drivers.
CVSA said the campaign was intended to identify and address dangerous driving behaviors, including violations of traffic laws and federal or state commercial-vehicle regulations.
Focus on Unsafe Driving Behaviors
Operation Safe Driver Week is an annual enforcement and education effort aimed at reducing crashes linked to unsafe driving. Officers monitor the behavior of commercial and passenger vehicle drivers and issue warnings or citations when violations are observed.
The results underscore the continued focus on speeding and other unsafe driving practices among all road users, particularly on roads shared by commercial trucks and passenger vehicles.
