Daimler Trucks Recalled Again After Repairs Fail to Fix Safety Issues
Daimler Truck North America is recalling 2,404 Freightliner Cascadia and Western Star 49X trucks after some vehicles received an incorrect repair during earlier brake-related recalls.
Vehicles Repaired Under Earlier Recalls Affected
The recall covers certain 2020–2023 Freightliner Cascadia and 2022 Western Star 49X vehicles that were previously repaired under recall numbers 23V073 or 22V817.
According to Daimler Truck North America, some of those vehicles received an incompatible software remedy instead of the required replacement brake components. The incorrect repair means the trucks must return to a dealer for the proper fix.
Brake Modulator Valves to Be Replaced
Dealers will replace the affected brake modulator valves at no cost to owners. The replacement work is intended to correct vehicles that were repaired incorrectly under the earlier recalls.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on Nov. 8. Owners who receive a notice should contact an authorized Daimler Truck North America dealer to schedule the repair.
