Trucker Drives Through Nashville Grocery Store Amid Detention Time Drama
A truck driver is facing a felony vandalism charge after police said he intentionally drove a tractor-trailer through the front of an Aldi grocery store in East Nashville. No injuries were reported, but the crash caused more than $250,000 in damage.
Truck Crashed Through Store Entrance
The incident occurred around midnight Thursday at the Aldi store on Gallatin Avenue in Nashville, Tennessee. The tractor-trailer was hauling a trailer loaded with cake mix and was reportedly scheduled to deliver to the store.
Security video obtained by local news outlets shows the truck circling the parking lot before traveling directly toward the store and entering the area near the front entrance.
Aldi said no one was injured in the crash.
Driver Faces Felony Charge
Police identified the driver as Kristofer Scruggs, 34. According to an arrest affidavit, Scruggs told officers that he intentionally drove the tractor-trailer into the building.
Scruggs was charged with felony vandalism involving property damage greater than $250,000, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. The reported damage estimate includes the store’s front entrance and other structural areas affected by the crash.
No Verified Link to Detention Dispute
Although the truck was reportedly at the store to make a delivery, authorities have not indicated that detention time, a delivery dispute or another trucking-related issue contributed to the incident. The circumstances remain part of the criminal investigation.
