**Nationwide Road-Weather Update**
⚠️ **Flash flooding is the biggest travel hazard in North Carolina:**
– **Wilmington area:** Flash flooding through **8:30 PM EDT** may impact **I-40 near mile 416** and **I-140 near mile 20**, with flooded streets, underpasses, and low-lying routes possible.
– **Between Roseboro and Clinton:** Significant road flooding is occurring after 2–4 inches of rain; another 1–2 inches is possible through **7:30 PM EDT**.
– Shallow roadway flooding is also possible near **US-74** in the Matthews–Indian Trail area through **10:45 PM EDT**.
⛈️ **Severe thunderstorms with 60 mph winds and damaging hail** are affecting parts of the Southeast, Lower Mississippi Valley, Midwest, and Arizona:
– **North Carolina/South Carolina/Georgia:** Storms may down trees and power lines, damage vehicles with hail, and create sudden visibility hazards. Watch **I-73 in central NC**, **I-77 near Winnsboro, SC**, and **I-520 near Fort Gordon/Hephzibah, GA**, where water may cover roads.
– **Louisiana and Mississippi:** Severe storms include 60 mph winds and up to golf-ball-size hail. Use extra caution on **I-55 near Greensburg–Amite**, **I-12 near Covington/Abita Springs**, and **I-10/I-610 around Marrero, Metairie, and Jefferson**, where torrential rain may also cause flash flooding. A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for much of Louisiana and parts of east Texas until **9 PM CDT**.
