**Nationwide Road-Weather Update**

🚗 **Flash flooding is the biggest travel threat tonight.** Never drive through water-covered roads, especially at night.

– **Southwest:** Life-threatening flash flooding is affecting **SR 89A near Sedona, AZ (mile markers 364–372)**; washes, underpasses, and dirt roads may be impassable through 8:30 PM MST. Flash flooding is also reported near **Mountain Pass, CA**, including **I-15 between mile markers 161–174**, where severe storms may bring 60 mph winds and quarter-size hail. Flooding is ongoing in southern Utah’s **Upper Escalante River** area, threatening backcountry roads and washes.
– **Texas:** Heavy thunderstorms may flood highways, streets, underpasses, and low-water crossings around **McDonald Observatory, Davis Mountains State Park, and Black Mountain** in Jeff Davis County through 11 PM CDT.
– **Kentucky/Tennessee/Appalachians:** Flash flooding is ongoing or expected across parts of south-central and southeastern Kentucky, including **Columbia, Barbourville, Pineville, and surrounding areas**. Severe storms with 60 mph winds are affecting eastern Tennessee, including **I-26, I-40, and I-81**; torrential rain may rapidly flood roads. A broader flash-flood risk continues through Friday morning across northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, southwest Virginia, and much of West Virginia.
– **North Carolina/Ohio/Indiana:** Up to **5 inches of rain** has fallen around **Southern Pines, Aberdeen, Pinebluff, and Ashley Heights, NC**. In Cabarrus County, avoid flooded roads including **NC 27/24 near Riceland Way**, Clydesdale Drive, Bethel Church Road, and Reed Mine Road. Numerous roads remain closed in east-central Ohio around **Zanesville and New Concord** after 1.5–4.5 inches of rain. Minor flooding is also possible around **Terre Haute, Brazil, and Clinton, Indiana**.
– **Alaska:** A glacier-dammed lake outburst is expected to flood roads around **Mendenhall Lake and River near Juneau** through Friday morning. **View Drive, Skaters Cabin Road, Riverside Drive, and areas near Back Loop Road Bridge** could become flooded or impassable as water rises.
– **Northern Plains:** Destructive severe storms are affecting western South Dakota, North Dakota, and northwest Nebraska. Near **Union Center and Enning, SD**, winds may reach **90 mph** with baseball-size hail. North Dakota storms may bring **60 mph winds** and hail up to tennis-ball size. In Nebraska, **Highway 20 between mile markers 92–118** near Gordon and Rushville faces baseball-size hail and 60 mph winds.
– **Carolinas/Georgia:** Severe storms may produce 60–70 mph wind gusts, hail, falling trees, and road debris. Use caution on **I-26 and I-77 in South Carolina** near Winnsboro and Whitmire, and around Buena Vista, Georgia.
