AI Gate System Cuts Truck Dwell to Under 30 Seconds as EAIGLE Reports 350% Growth

EAIGLE, a logistics automation company focused on gate, yard and dock operations, has closed a growth funding round after reporting 350% year-over-year revenue growth. The company says its computer vision platform is reducing truck gate dwell times from as much as 18 minutes to less than 30 seconds at some facilities.

CEO and founder Amir Hoss discussed the company’s technology and expansion plans in an interview with FreightWaves. He said EAIGLE’s system uses security cameras that many facilities already have, rather than requiring operators to install an entirely new camera network.

For professional drivers, the most visible change is at the gate. Instead of stopping for a paper-based check-in, manual document review and repeated data entry, drivers can be processed through an automated system that verifies information and sends it to the facility’s operating software.

EAIGLE said the platform validates bills of lading, purchase orders, appointments and USDOT numbers in real time. The data can then be connected through application programming interfaces to yard management, warehouse management and transportation management systems.

“The bar is really high because you own that responsibility of initiating the high accuracy and complete data capture and validation for the rest of the systems in the supply chain ecosystem of each one of the operational customers,” Hoss said.

At one active facility described by Hoss, approximately 1,100 trucks move through two gates and four lanes each day. EAIGLE said it replaced 18 full-time gate positions across three shifts with a paperless, unmanned operation at that site.

That does not necessarily eliminate every human task at a facility. Instead, the company’s stated goal is to automate routine processing and leave employees to handle exceptions, unusual situations and problems that require judgment. For drivers, that could mean fewer delays caused by missing paperwork, inconsistent data entry or unclear gate procedures.

Hoss said the company’s system was developed in response to a common problem in yard operations: information recorded at the gate was often incomplete or inaccurate. If a gate worker only logged a truck’s arrival without validating the related documents, the resulting yard data could be unreliable throughout the rest of the operation.

“It becomes garbage in and garbage out,” Hoss said, describing the effect of poor gate data on downstream systems.

EAIGLE markets two primary products. Automated Vehicle Access Control, or AVAC, handles camera-based check-in and check-out at the gate. YardSight uses cameras installed on light poles, exterior walls and shunt trucks to monitor yard activity and update a facility’s yard management system.

According to the company, some high-volume manufacturing customers require yard updates every four minutes or less to maintain dock efficiency. The system is intended to give operators a more current view of where trailers and vehicles are located, potentially reducing time spent searching for equipment or waiting for yard moves.

EAIGLE said facilities using its technology have increased gate throughput by as much as five times while reducing average gate dwell to under 30 seconds. The company also reported reductions in detention fees, turnaround times, theft and fraud events, and other operational bottlenecks. Those figures are company-reported and may vary by facility.

Security is another part of the platform. EAIGLE said its real-time checks identify mismatched or expired bills of lading, documents issued for another facility and carriers with prior theft-related concerns visible through USDOT information.

Hoss said the system stops an average of two to three cargo theft attempts per month at high-theft distribution centers. He identified empty-trailer theft and fraudulent or outdated paperwork as ongoing concerns for warehouse operators. Drivers can be affected when a document problem is discovered only after a truck reaches the gate, creating additional waiting time or requiring a dispatcher to resolve the issue.

The company said its funding will support sales expansion and continued development of its automated logistics technology. EAIGLE has deployed its gate and yard platform at facilities in the United States, Canada and Europe, and is receiving requests for additional North American and international deployments.

Hoss also said EAIGLE expects to announce a new product within two weeks of the interview. In the coming months, some customers are expected to test autonomous truck acceptance into fully automated yards. The company has described a longer-term operating model in which people manage exceptions while routine truck, shunt-truck and yard activity is handled by automated systems.

For carriers and drivers, the practical impact will depend on how widely facilities adopt the technology and how well automated gate systems connect with dispatch, appointment and transportation systems. At facilities where the technology performs as described, shorter gate stops and more accurate yard information could reduce wasted time. The transition may also change how drivers receive instructions, submit documents and resolve discrepancies at the gate.
