Ohio Man Sentenced in Tanker Driver’s Fatal Shooting Over Lawn Dispute

Ohio man sentenced to 24 years to life in prison for killing tanker truck driver

An Ohio man has been sentenced to 24 years to life in prison for the shooting death of a tanker truck driver during a dispute over the truck’s position near a residential lawn.

Mickey Green, 63, received the sentence on September 23, 2026, in the death of Steven Andrews, 50, according to Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson. The shooting occurred on April 5, 2025, at the intersection of Norris Road and Moravian Trail Road in Franklin Township, Ohio.

Green was convicted on September 3, 2026, following a three-day jury trial. The jury found him guilty of two counts of murder, one count of felonious assault and one count of discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises.

According to Wilson’s account of the incident, Andrews was operating a tanker truck near the intersection when Green confronted him about driving on the edge of Green’s lawn. Andrews stopped the truck, exited the vehicle and walked toward Green.

“As Andrews approached him, Green drew a handgun and shot Andrews in the head. Andrews was unarmed,” Wilson said.

Andrews was taken to a hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.

During the trial, Green argued that he had acted in self-defense. The jury nevertheless returned guilty verdicts on the charges, and Green was later sentenced to a lengthy prison term that includes the possibility of life imprisonment.

The case was investigated by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office. Wilson credited the law enforcement and legal teams involved in the investigation and prosecution.

“This was a senseless crime that warrants today’s sentence of time behind bars,” Wilson said. “Thank you to the law enforcement and legal teams who secured justice for the victim and his loved ones.”

The case highlights the potential danger of confrontations involving commercial vehicles and private property. Truck drivers routinely operate in tight spaces, along narrow roads and near driveways, lawns and other residential areas. A dispute that begins over a vehicle’s position can quickly become a serious safety threat when drivers or other people approach one another.

For professional drivers, the incident is also a reminder of the importance of avoiding roadside confrontations whenever possible. When a disagreement develops over where a truck is positioned or how it is being operated, maintaining distance and contacting law enforcement can help prevent the situation from escalating. In this case, however, the confrontation ended with the death of the driver and a prison sentence for the shooter.
