**Nationwide Road-Weather Update**
⚠️ **Severe thunderstorms are affecting parts of the Southeast, Plains, Mid-Atlantic and New England this evening.** Expect sudden downpours, damaging winds, hail, fallen trees/power lines, and localized flooded roads.
– **North Carolina:** Severe storms with **60 mph winds** are affecting the Triangle and central NC, including **I-85, I-40, I-540, and I-73** near Durham, Chapel Hill, Asheboro, Siler City and Randleman. Flooding is possible in poor-drainage and low-lying areas; parts of Chatham, Durham, Orange, Alamance and Randolph counties could receive another **1 to 1.5 inches of rain.** Warnings generally run through **7:30–7:45 PM EDT**, with flood advisories through **9:00–9:30 PM EDT.**
– **Upstate South Carolina / western North Carolina:** Storms near **Spartanburg, Gaffney, Greer, Taylors and Five Forks** are moving southeast at 10 mph, capable of **60 mph winds, quarter-size hail, torrential rain and flash flooding.** Warning until **7:45 PM EDT.**
– **Connecticut, Massachusetts & Rhode Island:** Severe storms near **Hartford, Manchester, East Hartford, Glastonbury and Vernon** may produce **60 mph winds and quarter-size hail** through **7:30 PM EDT.** A broader severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for parts of CT, central/western MA and northern RI—including Hartford, Worcester, Springfield and Providence—until **8 PM EDT.** Another severe storm threatens northeastern Massachusetts, including **Peabody, Salem, Beverly, Andover and Gloucester**, with 60 mph winds and quarter-size hail until **8 PM EDT.**
– **Pennsylvania:** Damaging-wind storms are affecting **Mercer, Stoneboro and Jackson Center** through **7:15 PM EDT.** In southwestern Warren County near **Grand Valley, Garland and Tidioute**, expect 60 mph winds, quarter-size hail and very heavy rain through **7:30 PM EDT.** Rotation has been detected, and a tornado could develop quickly.
– **Nebraska:** Panhandle storms near **Box Butte Reservoir, Belmont, Marsland and Box Butte Dam** can bring **60 mph winds and hail up to ping-pong-ball size.** A separate storm in rural Burt and Cuming counties east of West Point has quarter-size hail and torrential rain that may flood roads. Alerts expire by **5:15–6:15 PM local time.**
– **Oklahoma/Texas border:** Near **Waurika, Ryan, Addington and Sugden**, a storm moving southwest at 10 mph may produce **60 mph winds and quarter-size hail** through **6:15 PM CDT.**
– **Florida:** Heavy rain has dropped **2 to 4 inches** in west-central Lake County, with up to **1.5 inches more** possible. Minor flooding is possible on low-lying and poorly drained roads through **8 PM EDT.**
