🚗 **Nationwide Road-Weather Update**
**Hawaii Big Island:** A Hurricane Watch is in effect. Tropical-storm-force winds are possible Friday into Sunday, with peak gusts up to **75 mph** in southern and southeastern areas. Additional rainfall of **1–15 inches**, locally higher, could cause dangerous flash flooding, mudslides, debris-blocked roads, and closures. A few tornadoes are also possible. Avoid unnecessary travel in heavy rain or high winds; never drive through flooded roads or around barricades.
**Southeast/East-Central Iowa:** Severe thunderstorms near **Fairfield, Mount Pleasant, Washington, Columbus Junction, and New London** are moving east at **40 mph** with wind gusts up to **60 mph** through **10:30 AM CDT**. Torrential rain may cause flash flooding, and tornadoes can develop quickly. Expect tree debris and sudden road hazards; pull over safely if winds become dangerous.
**Central Illinois:** A Flood Watch covers areas along and north of **I-74** through Friday morning. Multiple rounds of rain may bring **1–2 inches**, with localized totals over **4 inches**, causing flooding on low-lying roads and near creeks and streams. Northwest Illinois remains under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until **11 AM CDT**.
**Juneau, Alaska:** Flooding continues along Mendenhall Lake and River near the Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area, View Drive, and below Back Loop Bridge through early Friday. Water levels are forecast to crest at **16.1–16.6 feet** Thursday afternoon; View Drive, River Road, Riverside Drive, and nearby routes may flood or become impassable. Back Loop Road Bridge is expected to close during the outburst event.
