**Nationwide Road-Weather Update**
⚠️ **Flash flooding is the biggest travel hazard today.** Never drive through water-covered roads—turn around and find another route.
**Virginia/Tennessee/North Carolina:** Severe storms with **60 mph wind gusts** and small hail are affecting parts of east Tennessee, southwest Virginia and northwest North Carolina. On **I-81 in Virginia**, watch for storm impacts from Bristol/Abingdon northward, including flooding between mile markers **17–34**. Heavy rain may flood streets, underpasses and low-lying roads. Warnings run into early evening EDT.
**Tennessee:** Damaging storms are also affecting the Knoxville/Oak Ridge area, with **60 mph winds, hail and torrential rain**. Use extra caution on **I-40 (mile markers 378–401)** and **I-75 (mile markers 108–145)** for sudden downpours, ponding water, fallen limbs and debris.
**West Virginia:** Multiple flash-flood warnings are in effect. Avoid flooded secondary roads near **Middle Island Creek**, including **Stewarts Run Road**. Flash flooding is also possible on **I-77 near mile markers 159–166** and **I-79 near mile markers 117–129**, as well as Route 50 near mile markers 81–82. Rainfall of **0.7 to 1.5 inches** has already fallen in several areas, with more possible.
**Ohio:** Numerous roads remain closed by flooding in parts of Noble and Monroe counties, including around Caldwell and Belle Valley. **2–3 inches of rain** have fallen, and streams and creeks remain high through about **6:30 PM EDT**.
**Texas:** Central Jeff Davis County, including the Davis Mountains area, faces flash flooding after **1–1.5 inches** of rain, with up to another inch possible. Low-water crossings in hilly terrain can become dangerous quickly.
**Arkansas, Alabama and South Dakota:** Severe thunderstorms may bring **60 mph wind gusts** and hail. Expect possible downed trees, road debris and sudden visibility drops near Des Arc, AR; Mount Vernon/Movico, AL; and rural northwestern Perkins County, SD.
Slow down in heavy rain, increase following distance, avoid low-lying routes, and never drive around barricades. Submit road-weather reports at **888-IS-4TIPS (888-474-8477)** or through **HammerDownHeadlines.com** or **HammerDownNews.com**. Check local conditions before traveling.
