**Road Weather Update: East Tennessee & Virginia**
⚠️ **Flash flooding is creating dangerous travel conditions this afternoon.**
**East Tennessee:** Flash Flood Warning until **6 PM EDT** for the Johnson City area, including stretches of **I-26 between mile markers 14–34**. About **1.5–2.5 inches of rain** has fallen, with flooding reported on Cherokee Road and Unicoi Drive. A Flood Advisory continues through **7 PM EDT** around Greeneville and Mosheim, where up to 1.5 inches has fallen.
**Virginia:** Flash Flood Warnings remain in effect until **6:30 PM EDT** across parts of south-central Virginia—including Blackstone, Crewe, Kenbridge and Amelia Courthouse—and Hampton Roads, including Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth and Suffolk. Some areas have received up to **3 inches of rain**, with another **1–3 inches possible**. Low-lying roads, underpasses, streets and highways may flood quickly. A Flood Advisory also continues through **6:45 PM EDT** in parts of Lunenburg and Mecklenburg counties.
Do not drive through water-covered roads—turn around, don’t drown. Slow down in heavy rain and watch for flooded underpasses and poor-drainage areas.
