Hammer Down Road Report

**Road-Weather Update**

⚠️ **Nebraska:** Severe thunderstorms are moving southeast at 30–40 mph across central Nebraska, affecting areas near Ericson, Ord, Spalding, Greeley, Belgrade and Scotia. Expect wind gusts up to 70 mph and large hail. **Highway 281 between mile markers 132 and 149** is in the warned area through 11:15 AM CDT; other central Nebraska warnings run until 11:45 AM CDT. Slow down, avoid stopping beneath trees, and seek a safe place off the road if conditions rapidly worsen.

🌊 **Indiana:** Flooding along the White River is causing or is expected to cause road problems from Centerton and Spencer south through Elliston, Newberry, Edwardsport, Petersburg and Hazleton. Moderate flooding is occurring near Spencer, while **State Road 358 between Plainville and Edwardsport is expected to become impassable by several feet of water.** Water has also been reported on roads near Blue Bluff Bridge. Flood concerns in parts of southwest Indiana may continue into August 27. Never drive around barricades or through flooded roads—turn around, don’t drown.

🌧️ **Illinois/Northwest Indiana:** A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through late tonight for Livingston, Iroquois and Ford counties in Illinois and Benton County, Indiana. Thunderstorms may produce a quick 1 to locally 3 inches of rain, leading to flooded streets, roads, creeks and low-lying crossings. Be ready for sudden ponding and avoid water-covered roadways.
