**Road-Weather Update: Flooding and severe storms affecting travel in parts of the Midwest and Southwest**
🚧 **Central Illinois:** Flash flooding is ongoing or expected near Peoria, Pekin, East Peoria, Morton and Canton, including stretches of **I-74, I-155 and I-474**. An additional 1–4 inches of rain is possible after 1–3 inches already fell. Watch for flooded streets, underpasses and low-lying roads through **6 AM CDT Saturday**. A separate severe thunderstorm near Fort Madison, Nauvoo and La Harpe may produce **60 mph wind gusts** through **12:15 AM CDT**.
⚠️ **Northeast Kansas:** A destructive severe thunderstorm near **Perry Lake, Oskaloosa, Perry, McLouth and Ozawkie** is moving east at 25 mph. Expect wind gusts up to **80 mph** and half-dollar-size hail through **12:45 AM CDT**. High-profile vehicles may be especially vulnerable to overturning winds.
🌊 **Central and Southern Indiana:** River flooding is affecting roads near **Shelbyville, Columbus, Edinburgh, Carthage, Seymour and Rivervale**. **State Road 11 between Southern Crossing and CR 550 S is closed** near Columbus. Other local and county roads may be flooded or impassable, including Buddha Road, Lawrenceport Road and CR 760 E near Seymour. Some river flooding is expected to persist into next week.
🌧️ **Northwest Arizona/Southern Nevada:** Heavy thunderstorm rain has caused flooding near **Hoover Dam, Dolan Springs, Nelson, Temple Bar and Pierce Ferry/Antares Roads**. Between **2 and 5 inches** of rain has fallen, with another inch possible; washes and low-water crossings may be impassable through **3:45 AM PDT/MST**. In west-central Clark County, including Spring Valley, Enterprise and Summerlin, expect ponding and minor urban flooding through midnight PDT.
Never drive through flooded roads—turn around and find another route. Slow down for standing water, avoid travel near severe storms, and watch for downed trees or power lines after damaging winds.
