Hammer Down Road Report

🚗 **Nationwide Road-Weather Update**

**Flash flooding is the biggest travel threat** across parts of the Midwest, Southwest and Florida. Never drive through water-covered roads—flooding can quickly affect streets, underpasses, highways and low-lying routes.

– **Indiana & Ohio:** Flash flooding is ongoing or expected through about **8:45 PM EDT** near Rossville, Battle Ground, Kokomo, Greentown and Burlington, Indiana, and in western Shelby County, Ohio. Rainfall totals of **1.5 to 3 inches** have fallen in parts of Ohio, with more rain possible. Central Delaware County, Ohio—including the **I-71/US-36/SR-37** area—also faces minor flooding through 8:45 PM EDT.

– **Southeast Iowa & west-central Illinois:** Flash flooding is possible through **10:30 PM CDT** around Burlington, West Burlington, Danville, Stronghurst and Salem. Another **1 to 2 inches** of rain is possible, creating dangerous conditions on urban roads, underpasses and low-lying areas.

– **New Mexico & Colorado:** Life-threatening flash flooding is possible near burn scars. In northeastern New Mexico, use extreme caution on **I-25, SR 518 and SR 104** near Las Vegas and Sapello; heavy rain may cause flooding, debris flows and washed-out roads through early evening. Severe storms near Las Vegas, Mora and Storrie Lake may also produce **60 mph winds and ping-pong-ball-size hail**. In southeastern Colorado, avoid roads near Beulah and San Isabel around the Middle Aspen Acres Burn Scar due to possible debris flows. Near Peyton, Calhan and Rush, storms can bring **60 mph winds and half-dollar-size hail**.

– **Florida:** Southern Okaloosa County—including Fort Walton Beach, Niceville and Destin—has received **3 to 7 inches of rain**, with another 1 to 2 inches possible through **5:45 PM CDT**. Severe storms with **60 mph winds** are affecting the Pensacola/Gulf Breeze area and central Florida near Leesburg, The Villages, Lake Weir and Ocala. Watch for downed limbs, debris, ponding water and rapidly changing road conditions.

– **Kansas & northwest Missouri:** Severe storms are moving east at **35 mph** near St. Joseph, Savannah and Maysville, with **60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail**. Use caution on **I-29 between mile markers 42 and 56** and **I-229 between mile markers 0 and 9**. In western Kansas, severe storms near Oakley, Grinnell and Winona may produce **60 mph winds, half-dollar-size hail and torrential rain** along **I-70 between mile markers 75 and 93**. Hail-covered roads can become slick like snow or ice.

– **Arizona & Mississippi:** Near Safford, Arizona, severe winds up to **60 mph** may affect Routes **191 and 70**. Severe-thunderstorm watches remain in effect across much of southern and central Arizona until **11 PM MST**. In central and eastern Mississippi, storms near Carthage, Philadelphia, Mathiston and Mantee may bring **60 mph winds and quarter-size hail**, creating hazards from falling trees, debris and hail damage.

Slow down, increase following distance, avoid flooded routes and pull over safely if visibility drops or hail becomes intense. You can submit weather reports to **888-IS-4TIPS (888-474-8477)** or **HammerDownHeadlines.com** / **HammerDownNews.com**. **Check local conditions before traveling.**
