🚙 **Nationwide Road-Weather Update — Aug. 19**

**Arizona:** Flash flooding is ongoing or expected in southern Arizona near **Route 286** between mile markers 1–15/18 near Arivaca and Sasabe, where 1.5–2 inches of rain has fallen. Flooding also threatens **SR-73** between mile markers 332–341 near Whiteriver and Fort Apache after 1–2 inches of rain. Both flash flood warnings run until **7 PM MST**. Severe storms may also produce **60 mph winds, quarter-size hail, and torrential rain** near Routes 82, 83 and 90; avoid flooded washes, underpasses and low-water crossings.

**Illinois:** Southern Knox County, including **I-74 from mile markers 54–67**, faces flash flooding through **8:45 PM CDT**. Rainfall of 2–3 inches has fallen, with another 1–3 inches possible. Expect water over roads and underpasses.

**Indiana:** Multiple flash flood warnings cover parts of central and north-central Indiana, including **Lafayette, West Lafayette, Frankfort, Kokomo, Tipton, Peru and Wabash**, through late evening. Up to 2.5 inches has already fallen in spots, with more heavy rain expected. Severe storms near Frankfort and Tipton can produce **60 mph winds**; use extra caution on **I-65 near mile markers 159–160**. Do not drive through flooded roads.

**New Mexico & Colorado:** Flash flooding is possible near **Mule Creek, NM**, through **7:30 PM MDT**, with another 0.5–1 inch of rain possible. Severe storms near Las Vegas, NM—including **I-25 mile markers 339–357**, SR 518 and SR 104—and near La Veta Pass/Gardner, CO, can bring **60 mph winds, quarter-size to ping-pong-ball-size hail, and torrential rain**. Pull over safely if visibility drops or hail begins; never cross flooded roads.

**Missouri:** Severe storms moving east at 40–45 mph may produce **60 mph wind gusts** along **I-35 between mile markers 36–74**, including near Cameron, Hamilton, Lathrop, Gallatin and Polo. Warnings run through **6:45 PM CDT**; a severe thunderstorm watch remains for parts of northwest and north-central Missouri until **8 PM CDT**. Watch for downed trees and debris.

**Alabama, Mississippi & Florida/Georgia:**
– **Mobile, AL:** A nearly stationary severe storm near **I-10 and I-65** may produce 60 mph winds through **6:45 PM CDT**.
– **Central/east-central Mississippi:** 60 mph winds and quarter-size hail are possible near Forest, Carthage, Morton, Newton and Union through **6:30 PM CDT**.
– **Florida Big Bend/southwest Georgia:** A 60 mph wind-producing storm is moving south near Tallahassee, Quincy, Havana and Whigham through **7:15 PM EDT**. Additional severe storms affect north Florida near Citra and Hawthorne.
– Minor roadway flooding is possible around Ocala, Bunnell and parts of Marion and Flagler counties after 1.5–2.5 inches of rain, with more rain expected.

**South Carolina & Ohio:** Roadway flooding is reported or possible in the Charleston-area suburbs—including **North Charleston, Summerville, Goose Creek and Ladson**—after 1–3 inches of rain. In Ohio, heavy rain has produced or may produce water over roads across parts of Mercer, Auglaize, Logan, Shelby and Union counties through late evening.

**Driving safety:** Slow down in heavy rain, allow extra stopping distance, avoid parking under trees, and never drive around barricades or through water-covered roads—**turn around, don’t drown.**
