🚨 **Road-Weather Update**

**Tornado threat:** A **Tornado Warning** is in effect for Kent and Queen Anne’s counties, Maryland—including Chestertown and Church Hill—until **3:15 PM EDT**. A storm capable of a tornado and quarter-size hail is moving east at 20 mph. **Do not drive into the warned area; seek sturdy shelter immediately and check the NWS for the latest information.** A Tornado Watch remains in effect for Maryland’s Eastern Shore and coastal waters from Fenwick Island, DE, to Chincoteague, VA, until **10 PM EDT**.

**Severe storms:** Damaging wind gusts up to **60 mph** and hail may bring down trees and power lines, block roads, and damage vehicles across parts of Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and central Florida. Key areas include:
– Northern VA/Maryland: Leesburg, Ashburn, Sterling, Point of Rocks, Brunswick, and Frederick-area communities.
– Southeast VA/Northeast NC: Franklin, Suffolk, Hampton, Newport News, Chesapeake, Smithfield, Murfreesboro, and nearby areas.
– North Carolina: **I-95 from mile markers 93 to 132** and NC 264 near Smithfield, Wilson, Rocky Mount, and Bailey.
– Pennsylvania: **I-81 from mile markers 31 to 36** near Dillsburg, New Oxford, and Mount Holly Springs; storms are moving east at 30 mph.
– South Carolina: Eutawville and nearby Orangeburg County.
– Florida: southern Sumter and northwestern Polk counties near Withla and Rockridge.

Severe Thunderstorm Watches extend through **10 PM EDT** across much of the Mid-Atlantic, including DC, Maryland, Delaware, much of Virginia, northeast North Carolina, eastern Pennsylvania, and parts of New Jersey. Avoid parking beneath trees, slow down in heavy rain or hail, and be prepared for sudden road closures.

**Flooding:** Numerous roads are closed or flooded in eastern and central Ohio and northern West Virginia after **1 to 5 inches of rain**. Avoid travel through low-lying areas around Zanesville, Cambridge, Barnesville, St. Clairsville, Wheeling, Moundsville, and Martins Ferry. Flood warnings generally continue until **9:30 PM EDT**. In central Ohio, flooding also affects **I-70 at SR-13** near Newark/Heath; Route 669 near Malta and Route 60 near McConnelsville may flood tonight. Additional flooding is affecting Beavercreek, Bellbrook, Spring Valley, Granville, Rushville, Arcadia, and Clearfield, PA. **Never drive through flooded roads—turn around, don’t drown.**
