Hammer Down Road Report

**Nationwide Road-Weather Update**

⚠️ **Flash flooding is the top travel hazard tonight.** Never drive through flooded roads, underpasses, or low-water crossings—turn around, don’t drown.

– **Pennsylvania:** Flash Flood Warnings through 9:45–10 PM EDT for areas around Brockway, Bedford, Meyersdale, Johnstown and Altoona. Heavy storms have dropped 1–2 inches, with more rain possible; streets, highways and underpasses may flood. A severe storm near **I-99, mile markers 25–31**, may bring 60 mph winds, quarter-size hail and torrential rain through 7:30 PM.
– **South Carolina:** Charleston-area flooding risk through 9:30 PM EDT. A quick 1–3 inches of rain may close roads, especially downtown Charleston; use caution on **I-26 (MM 215–221)** and **I-526 (MM 11–17 and 23–28)**. Near Myrtle Beach, storms moving northeast could produce 60 mph winds, quarter-size hail and flash flooding through 7:30 PM.
– **Ohio/West Virginia:** Flash flooding is possible near Wellston, Albany and Hamden through 9:30 PM EDT. Severe storms along **I-77 in Ohio and West Virginia** and West Virginia Route 50 may bring 60 mph gusts, hail, heavy rain and rapidly reduced visibility through 7:30 PM. A severe-thunderstorm watch remains in effect across northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania until 9 PM EDT.
– **Virginia:** Multiple severe storms across southwest and western Virginia—including Roanoke, Salem, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Floyd and Hillsville—may produce 60 mph winds, downed trees, ponding water and hydroplaning hazards through 8 PM EDT. A Flood Watch for parts of central and northern Virginia, including the Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge, continues until midnight; some areas could receive another 2–4 inches of rain. Central Accomack County also has minor flooding concerns through 10 PM.
– **Kentucky/Tennessee:** Severe storms across eastern Kentucky and east Tennessee may bring 60 mph winds and hail through 7:45 PM EDT. Northern Tennessee counties around Cookeville, Jamestown and Livingston remain under a severe-thunderstorm watch until 9 PM CDT.
– **Mississippi/Tennessee:** A destructive storm near and north of **I-22 in northeast Mississippi and southern Fayette County, Tennessee**, could produce **80 mph wind gusts** through 6:45 PM CDT. Expect dangerous crosswinds, tree damage, debris and possible power outages. Heavy rain may also cause urban flooding around Memphis, Bartlett, Germantown, Collierville and Olive Branch through 7:45 PM CDT.
– **Arkansas:** Severe storms near Little Rock, Bryant, Forrest City, Marianna and Helena-West Helena may bring 60 mph winds and quarter-size hail through 6:45 PM CDT. Slow down for sudden wind gusts, hail and falling limbs.
– **Georgia/Texas:** Storms near Ashburn, Georgia, and Crowell, Texas, may produce 60 mph wind gusts through 7:45 PM EDT/6:30 PM CDT.
– **Colorado/Wyoming/Utah/Nevada:** Severe storms may bring 60–70 mph winds and quarter-size hail. Use extra caution on **I-80 in Utah from mile markers 20–39** and near **Carlin, Nevada, mile markers 282–287**. Storms may also affect northeast Colorado near Brighton and Fort Lupton, and southeast Wyoming near Glendo.
– **New Mexico:** Arroyo and small-stream flooding is possible around Santa Fe, Tesuque and Agua Fria through 7:30 PM MDT. Avoid flooded arroyos and normally dry crossings.

If you encounter heavy rain, reduce speed, increase following distance, and pull over safely if visibility drops or debris blocks the road.
