PBR Offers Reward After $70K Beer Heist
Thieves stole two truckloads of Pabst Blue Ribbon and non-alcoholic Old Milwaukee beer from a Southern California distribution warehouse in two separate incidents on the same day, according to police. The stolen beer was valued at approximately $70,000.
More Than 1,500 Cases Stolen
About 34,000 cans of beer—more than 1,500 cases—were taken from the warehouse in Montclair, California, according to a police report. Pabst has described the missing shipment as weighing roughly 40,000 pounds.
Montclair police said both thefts occurred at the same distribution center. The incidents involved two truckloads of beer, although authorities have not publicly identified the suspects or released details about how the shipments were removed from the facility.
Pabst Offers Return Deadline
In an Aug. 21 social media post, Pabst urged those responsible to return the beer within 18 days and 44 minutes without facing questions. The timing appeared to reference 1844, the year associated with the company’s founding, although Pabst has not confirmed the significance.
“To the thief: we don’t fault you for wanting to brag to your friends how much PBR you have, we just wish you obtained it the honorable way,” the company wrote.
Reward Offered for Information
Pabst also said it would offer a reward to anyone who provides information that helps investigators solve the case. The company did not disclose the amount of the reward.
The theft highlights the exposure of high-volume beverage shipments to cargo crime, particularly when multiple cases are moved from distribution facilities in coordinated loads. The investigation remains ongoing.
