**Nationwide Road-Weather Update**

• **Central Appalachians — KY, WV, OH, VA:** Widespread heavy rain is causing dangerous flooding of roads, streets, underpasses, creeks and low-lying areas tonight. Numerous roads are already closed around **Zanesville, OH**, with flooding also affecting parts of southeast Kentucky, central/southern West Virginia and the Richmond, Virginia area.
– **WV:** Flood concerns include **I-77, I-64 and I-79 near Charleston**, plus Route 19 near Summersville.
– **KY:** Flash flooding is underway near **Hindman, Jackson, Hazard and Pippa Passes**, with 1–2 inches of rain already reported and more possible.
– **VA:** Richmond-area rainfall has reached 2–4.5 inches, with another 1–3 inches possible. Severe storms near Petersburg, Hopewell and Colonial Heights can produce 60 mph winds.
– Severe storms also bring 60 mph winds in far southwest Virginia and eastern Kentucky. Avoid flooded routes, especially after dark—**turn around, don’t drown.**

• **Colorado:** Life-threatening flash flooding continues near **Colorado City** and along the St. Charles River downstream of the Aspen Acres burn scar after 1–3 inches of rain. Flooding can impact highways, streets and underpasses through 11:15 PM MDT. Minor flooding also continues near **Boyero** after 2–4 inches of rain. A severe storm near **Penrose** may produce 60 mph winds, hail and torrential rain.

• **Nebraska:** A destructive severe thunderstorm in north-central **Cherry County** may bring wind gusts up to **80 mph** and quarter-size hail. Avoid **Highway 20 between mile markers 140 and 154** near Medicine Lake and Schoolhouse Lake through 10:45 PM CDT.

• **Texas Panhandle:** Severe thunderstorms near **Dalhart, Ware and Conlen** are moving north at 25 mph with 60 mph wind gusts and torrential rain possible through 10:45 PM CDT. Be alert for sudden crosswinds, debris and water-covered roads.

• **Hawaii:** Tropical conditions are creating hazardous driving weather on **Kauai**, including strong winds, heavy rain and possible localized road or bridge closures. Niihau could see winds of 35–45 mph with gusts to 65 mph; Kauai Mountains may receive another 2–4 inches of rain. On the Big Island, rainfall rates of 1–2 inches per hour may cause minor road flooding near Waikoloa Village, Honokaa and Kamuela.
